The Flames offers middle school and high school soccer teams for homeschooled boys and girls. Generally, middle school players are aged 11-14 (as of August 1), JV players are 15-16, and varsity are 17-18. The number of teams offered depends on the number of players enrolled. Typically, the Flames play one or two games per week, on weekdays. Opponents are other homeschool programs and private schools within about an hour’s drive. The boys regular season is in the fall, from August through mid-October. The girls regular season is in the spring, mid-March through mid-May.
The Flames offers a spring soccer program for boys aged 11-18. The boys practice twice a week, mid-March through mid-May, and play in scrimmages against youth recreation league teams. In addition, all homeschooled children aged 11-18 may participate in Futsal pick-up games, which are typically offered Sunday afternoons in January and February. Futsal is played indoors, with a smaller ball, fewer players, and very short games. It is a fast-paced, high-scoring activity that kids of all ages and ability levels enjoy.
The Flames offers homeschooled children with little or no experience a chance to learn the basics with youth development soccer. Generally, youth development meets twice per week, late-March through late-May in the spring, and mid-August through mid-October in the fall. It is generally open to homeschool children aged 5-11 (as of August 1). Youth development focuses on establishing sound fundamentals on offense and defense. It combines drills and games for a fun, positive experience that equips participants to be able to play on the Flames soccer teams in the future.
