Track and Field
The Flames offers middle school and high school track and field teams for homeschooled boys and girls. Generally, middle school athletes are aged 11-14 (as of August 1), JV athletes are 15-16, and varsity are 17-18. The number of teams offered depends on the number of athletes enrolled. In addition, homeschooled children aged 6-10 are encouraged to workout with the team and learn the sport, although they generally do not participate in meets. There are no tryouts and nobody is cut - we take everyone, coach everyone, and play everyone. Typically, the Flames practice once per week, and participate in one or two meets per season. Opponents are other homeschool programs and private schools within about an hour’s drive. The regular season runs from March through May.
Spring 2019 Season
Track and field began March 8 and ended May 17. Practices were held Fridays, from 3:30 to 5:00, at the Warren County Health and Human Services Complex stadium in Front Royal. Registration fee was $40 and jerseys were $20.
